Startup Riff Off is an exclusive session at the inaugural eCommerce Shoutout 2018 program organised by the Ministry of International Trade & e-Commerce Sarawak (MITeC) on 2nd December 2018 at Borneo744, Kuching, Sarawak. It provides a platform for startup businesses to take the stage and pitch to an audience of potential clients and investors.
Similar to MaGIC Grill or Chill format, ten (10) startups with the most innovative businesses will be selected to pitch in front of a panel of judges. Each startup will be given five (5) minutes to pitch on stage. It is followed by a 5-minute Q&A by the judges that will allow further elaboration about the startup business. The event ends with a networking session where you can mingle and connect with other entrepreneurs in a cozy environment.

Syazwani is currently the Manager for Community & Outreach (C&O) at MaGIC. She leads two (2) co-working space teams in Cyberjaya, Selangor and Kuching, Sarawak. Previously, Syazwani was in-charge of Stakeholder Management & Global Regional Program.
Prior to joining MaGIC, Syazwani was attached with Cradle Fund for five (5) years and her expertise is investment management for startups. Syazwani graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, majoring in Human Resources Management & Services.
Khairul Hafiz Sharkawi received his BSc in Geoinformatics, MSc in Geoinformatics and his PhD in Geoinformatics (3D GIS) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Khairul Hafiz is currently the Head of Research and Development Unit at Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), working on building Sarawak digital research and development capabilities to support and sustain the Sarawak Digital Economy Initiative. He is the author and co-author of over 20 scientific publications and member of the Organising Committee for several international conferences.
Lester Matthew is currently the Principal Assistant Secretary at MITEC. His roles in the Ministry is mainly on researching and exploring new export markets for Sarawak’s products as well as promoting eCommerce to uplift the income of Sarawakians. Prior to his current appointment he was the Deputy Director of the State Planning Unit, Chief Minister’s Department in-charge of macroeconomic planning as well as facilitating strategic investment projects in the State.
