Design Thinking

Design thinking is a methodology that provides a non-linear, for-human-centred approach to solving problems that are designed to help develop empathy for customers and surface insights for creating products and services that are synonymous with their want and need; in addition to cultivating skills for ideation and prototyping.

Business Model Canvas

The business model canvas is a well-known shared language for conceptualizing business models that combines traditional business strategy with methods and mindsets of design thinking and prototype three parts of the business – value proposition and offer, revenue model and sales channel. This allows a unity of an analytical and creative prototype to be tangible at an early stage while able to focus on people to uncover new opportunities and unlock more value from existing offers.

The knowledge gained from this course will provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the Design Thinking and Business Model Canvas that covers basic concepts, terminologies, scopes and stages on both elements and their effects on real-world business processes.

By the end of the session, participants learn to:

  • Identify what really matters to end-users.

  • Apply ideation methods to generate new and useful ideas.

  • Build quick and new experiments to prototype solutions.

  • Refine their ideas by sharing them and gathering feedback.

Business Model Canvas

Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants:

  • Learn how to design parts of their business to better meet the needs of customers and how to create a sustainable new business

  • Explore techniques to generate new ideas around a business’ value proposition, offer, revenue model and sales channel

  • Understand and put into practice a three-step process for prototyping parts of a business: frame a question, build a prototype and collect evidence

Our Speaker

Azuar Zainuddin

Azuar Zainuddin is the principal consultant for Satu Creative. His areas of expertise include design thinking, business design, and storytelling. He leads entrepreneur development and design thinking engagements with a diverse group of clients, including Shell Malaysia, Malaysian Global  Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN) and SME Bank. 

Prior to Satu Creative, Azuar taught Design courses at Swinburne University and Curtin University and served as a Copywriter at Leo Burnett.

He holds a BA in Design from Curtin University and a GCA in Writing from Swinburne University. He is also a Certified HRDF Trainer and Shell LiveWIRE Energy Solutions Trainer.
