In November 2018, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED) launched the National Entrepreneurship Framework (NEF) as a strategy to elevate entrepreneurship development by 2023. As part of MED’s efforts to inculcate the country’s entrepreneurial agenda to enhance sustainable economic development, the framework which comprises of 21 strategic objectives encompassing four core thrusts across various entrepreneurial sectors in Malaysia is aimed at creating one million jobs in a period of five years, produce 50,000 entrepreneurs who are able to open up 200,000 jobs per year, train 50,000 graduates annually as well as strengthen the economic contribution of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Arividya Arimuthu has been in the Government of Malaysia for over 10 years. She headed the trade office in Brussels and provided policy advice to the Malaysian Government on the European Union’s rules/policies/initiatives that could have impacted Malaysian trade and economy. With a Masters degree in Law (LL.M.) from Lancaster University, she also has experience working in the World Bank Group.
