Do you have cool and impactful ideas or projects?

If yes, then we have something for you!

MaGIC University Startup Challenge is a startup experience and pitching competition for University students across Malaysia. It is a 4-days programme to equip students with entrepreneurial skills and mindset. There will be fundamental workshops, mentoring sessions, sharing sessions and networking opportunities.

1. Cash Prizes for top 5 ideas/ teams:
– Top Winner – RM 15,000
– 2nd Winner- RM 12,000
– 3rd Winner- RM 10,000

– 5th Winner- RM 5,000

2. Top 3 ideas/ teams will have a chance to get free hot-desking at MaGIC Co-working Space, Cyberjaya for 3 months.

3. Top 3 ideas/ teams will have the opportunity to be invited to pitch at the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED) Vendor Innovation Partnership Programme (VIP2) in October 2019

4. Top 3 ideas/ teams will receive the website refinement(s) support from Website Artisan

5. Selected ideas/ teams will get a green lane to participate in Startup Campus Accelerator Lite (SCALe) run by WTF Accelerator and Cyberview Sdn Bhd at RekaScape, Cyberjaya for 2 days

How To Register?

  1. Fill up all the details in the registration form here
  2. You need to have at least 2 members and a maximum of 4 members including yourself.
  3. Attach URL of your pitch deck/ info deck/ business proposal in Google slides. (It must be less than 15 slides/ pages.)
  4. If you don’t have Google slides, you may send your Powerpoint or PDF files via email at community@mymagic.my. (It must be less than 15 slides/ pages.)
  5. MaGIC will shortlist all the applications into 20 teams starting from 11th September 2019 up to 1 week, then we will email whether you’ve been selected or not.
  6. Prepare your mind, body, and soul.
  7. Finally, please shows up your confirmation email upon the registration on the first day of the event.

10:00 AM- TRACK 1-Ideation: Learn how to build the ideas using startup tools

2:00 PM- TRACK 2- Go-to-Market (Learn how to build go-to-market strategies using startup tools)

5:00 PM- TRACK 3- Validation (Learn how to validate, collect, and analyze the feedback)

2:00 PM- Preliminary Pitch (All teams to pitch- 6 min/ group )

4:45 PM- VIP Arrival (Walkabout to see the program)

5:00 PM- Final Pitching (5 groups- 6 min/ group)

5:45 PM- Judge Deliberation & keynote from Minister of Entrepreneur Development (To select top 3 winners based on judging criteria and 15 minutes keynote session from MED)

6:15 PM- Prize Giving Ceremony (Announcing top 3 winners and prize giving)

6:30 PM- Refreshments (Light refreshments and networking)

7:30 PM- Wrap Up (Program ends)

Is the accommodation will be provided?

Yes, accommodation will be provided only for participants who commit full time to the whole program.

Is there any reimbursement on participants’ cost?

No, we don’t provide reimbursement and allowance for the participants as we believe every investment will require a cost.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Participants must be active students who currently pursuing the studies in Diploma, Degree, Master, or PhD level.

Can I join this program even I do only have ideas but I don’t have a team?

Participants must use their existing business ideas or solutions to compete in this challenge. It can be from previous competition/ program/ hackathon/ Startup Weekend/ final year project. Hence, every participant needs to have team members, and pitch deck or business proposal.

How many team members do I need to bring?

Minimum of 2 members, and a maximum of 4 members. All must be active students.

 

What can I bring into the event?

You just need to bring your team members, laptop, charger, power socket, and hoodies.

 

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, you may edit your information after you’ve registered.

 

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

No, you can’t transfer your ticket to another person.

What should be included in your pitch deck/ info deck?

  • About your team
  • About your solution/ product/ service
  • Why do you choose to develop your solution/ product/ service? (Problem statements with solutions)
  • Value Proposition
  • How it works
  • Marketing- Target Market, Market Segment, Marketing channels, etc
