Grill or Chill (GoC) is a monthly pitching platform for startups to showcase their products and services to get valuable feedback from industry experts within the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Participants of GoC will get to network with fellow entrepreneurs as well as industry partners in a casual setting at the end of each session.

Women Empowerment has become a buzzword in 2018, emphasizing the dynamic combination of women and men working alongside to enrich the ecosystem. Grill or Chill #Women in Innovation edition aims to highlight women entrepreneurs, whilst sharing the impact created through creativity and innovation. This is also to encourage more women to come forth and contribute towards the development of the economy.

Girls in Tech (GIT) is a global non-profit focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of girls and women who are passionate about technology. Adriana Gascoigne founded GIT in 2007 to create a support framework to help women advance their careers in STEM fields. Today, GIT aims to accelerate the growth of innovative women entering into the high-tech industry and building start-ups. We achieve this through the creation of proprietary, innovative programming and strategic global partnerships.

GIT is now in 60 locations worldwide and GIT Malaysia is led by our Managing Director, Nadira Yusoff and supported by various full-time professionals as volunteers and board members.

Fadilah Nizar

Founder and President, Johor Empowerment of Intellectual Women Association (JEIWA)

CEO, JEIWA Global Resources

As the Recipient of Johor Chief Police Appreciation Letter 2017 and nominated as Johor Women Icon 2018, Fadilah started her career as a Administrative & Diplomatic Officer (PTD) in various Ministries for Government of Malaysia. She joined the GLCs in 2013. In March 2017, she decided to focus on women empowerment initiatives in Malaysia through JEIWA
(Johor Empowerment of Intellectual Women Association), an NGO that has been credited for its uniqueness and high impact programmes.

JEIWA is the first of its kind that gathered professional women to share and seek help for their silence sufferings. JEIWA targets to shape women towards self-development, high productivity and creativity, being highly skilled, with a penchant for leadership and able to contribute to national development. She understands truly the hardships, struggles and
challenges faced by women who lived in abusive relationships and pledge to help women who dream to have new lives. She has managed to empower women through their potentials and attracts volunteers to do community and charity works.

She is an expert in diplomatic relations, cultural studies, strategic partnership, marketing, and public speaking. Fadilah always has the passion to contribute to the community and despite her family is a business-oriented family, she chose to do community work as a hobby turned career.

Excellent in her academic and curriculum activities, she has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the International Islamic University (IIUM) and a Master in Southeast Asian Studies from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

She is in preparation for PHD Programmes specialising on Individual Skill-based Volunteerism in Malaysia and a prominent speaker on the same issues in Malaysia. She is currently the CEO of JEIWA Global Resources, a Social Enterprise that focus to empower
women in urban area.

Elain Lockman

Co-Founder & Director, Ata Plus

Elain is a Co-Founder and Director in Ata Plus, a Malaysian licensed Equity Crowdfunding platform. Upbeat and optimistic, she believes nothing is impossible and all challenges are just another form of opportunities. This proves to be the fuel in her 23-year career in the areas of management, business strategy, human resource, business development, relationship management, marketing and corporate communications.

She has served notable organisations, namely Petronas, MDeC, Malaysia Debt Ventures, DiGi Telecommunications and Packet One Networks. She currently sits on the Board of Western Union Payments Malaysia and the Chairman of Western Union Internal Audit Committee, while being actively involved in the start-up community, advising entrepreneurs in funding, strategy and
operations. Elain is instrumental in establishing Ata Plus’ partnerships, deal screening and operations framework. Elain graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in Actuarial Science and MSc in Operational Research.

Renuka Sena

CEO, Proficeo

Renuka is the CEO of Proficeo, a boutique firm that specialises in design and development of high impact coaching and training programmes for Founder and C-Level Management. Proficeo is the private sector partner for Cradle for the highly successful Coach and Grow Programme.

Renuka is a coach, mentor and Angel Investor and in the past 10 years alone has impacted more than 500 Companies from around Malaysia who have generated more than RM1.8billion in revenues collectively since joining Proficeo programmes. Her motto in life is “Be the Change you want to see in the world” and by coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs, she ensures that she fulfills this life purpose every day.
