Grill or Chill (GoC) is a platform for startups to showcase their product and get valuable feedback from experts in the startup ecosystem. Each GoC ends with a networking session where you can mingle and connect with other entrepreneurs in a cozy environment.

In conjunction with Malaysia Tech Week 2019,

Welcome to Malaysia Tech Week 2019 (MTW19), a city-wide festival of industry-driven events that will bring together the best of Malaysian Corporates, Ecosystem Partners, Investors, Regulators and Tech Start-Ups along with delegations from around the world to the tech hub of Southeast Asia here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The tech revolution is on the horizon. The advancement we see in technology today is not just rapid – it is exponential. Exciting, disruptive technological innovations are abounding at every turn, followed by an eagerness to acquire, implement and optimise this revolution.

GoC #Smart City edition aims to gather the Smart City solution which includes artificial intelligence, big data, energy and highlight the impact created by the Smart City Industry within the Malaysian economy.

Each startup to be grilled are given 10 minutes:

Christopher Chan

Chris currently serves on the board of TMS Software Sdn Bhd, Open Dynamics Sdn Bhd,and Joget Inc.

He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, USA, with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1993 and started his career with the University as the Multimedia Director before serving with Acxiom Corporation in the US as a business consultant before coming back to Malaysia in 1996.
With more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, Chris was involved in the overall management of the TMS Group and helped developed the strategic direction of the Group. This includes fund raising exercises, IPO, acquisition of new companies, strategic investments as well as developing new local and global business partnerships. Chris sold his interest in The Media Shoppe Berhad and retired as the Group CEO in 2015. Chris continues to be actively involved in new startups as well as investing in existing companies involved in the area of mobile applications development, business process management, IoT (Internet of Things), distribution and payments systems.

In 2001, he won the PIKOM-Computimes ICT Award for ICT Entrepreneur of the Year. He was also the finalist at the 2004 Ernst and Young ICT Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Between March 2003 to February 2005, Chris was also the President of the Technopreneurs’ Association of Malaysia (TeAM), which he co-founded. He currently serves as a member of Advisory Board of Help University College.

Anand Krishnan

Anand Krishnan is a Partner at NXBT, a growth partner for entrepreneurs solving meaningful problems.
Prior to NXBT, Anand was the Managing Director of Endeavor Malaysia, the local chapter of the global not-for-profit supporting high-impact entrepreneurs in over 32 markets.
He was previously based in the United Kingdom with the Lotus/Caterham F1 Team as Brand Manager, a startup Formula One team he was involved in since its inception. Anand began his career at the Brand Team in AirAsia. There, he helped develop brand campaigns for the AirAsia Group, as well as managed and activated sponsorships with brands such as Manchester United, the Williams F1 Team, and the Oakland Raiders NFL team.
Anand graduated with a BA degree, majoring in International Business from Multimedia University, Malaysia.
