Grill or Chill (GoC) is a platform for startups to showcase their products and get valuable feedback from experts in the startup ecosystem. Each GoC ends with a networking session where you can mingle and connect with other entrepreneurs in a cosy environment.

Daren Tan is a full-stack generalist and data scientist. Avidly passionate on combining data, design and development onto solving real life problems. Prior to his current role, he worked as a freelance developer/
A serial hackathon winner with a cumulative total of 6 podium finishes and 3 Top 10 finishes. Also winner of the Merit Prize at the 17th MSC Malaysia APICTA Awards 2016. Co-founded Hackathon Kaki, the largest online hackathon community in Asia.
He is currently working as Assistant Manager in Tech & Innovations of MaGIC working on tools and technologies to empower the startup ecosystem in Malaysia.
In both his current and previous roles, Shaari’s accountabilities include ensuring the alignment with and within the business and IT, leading change and improving practices and processes of MaGIC IT Infrastructure. Shaari has been with MaGIC for over 5 years.
In his previous roles with Prokhas Sdn Bhd, he served as Head of Infrastructure Team. He was a consultant for IT infrastructures such as data centre-related, networking and server. Shaari has also involved in various operationalization of new incubated Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) such as MRT Corp, Ekuinas, Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam Darat (SPAD) and other clients on upgrading and migration of IT infrastructure, providing technical reviews, input and feedback for the third party, based on team agreement or joint venture.
Shaari brings nearly 17 years of IT infrastructure, software development and data analyst experience to the office today. Shaari began his IT career at CSA BHD in 2004 as an Assistant Engineer supporting major company such as Toyota, DIGI, Sara Lee, Kodak and a few other multinational companies. Shaari also had an experience working with the Research & Development Department in Motorola Technologies for a few years as an ECAD Engineer.
Shaari was recently certified as Applied Data Scientist, a program sponsored by Yayasan Peneraju Bumiputera from FusionEx. Shaari is a graduate from University Putra Malaysia, where he earned his Bachelor of Computer Science in 2002 and Master in Business Administration (Major in Entrepreneurship) from Open University Malaysia. Shaari has been certified in a few areas such as Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist(MCTS), EC-Network Security Administrator (ENSA), ITIL and Prince2.
