Grill or Chill (GoC) is a platform for startups to showcase their product and get valuable feedback from experts in the startup ecosystem. Each GoC ends with a networking session where you can mingle and connect with other entrepreneurs in a cozy environment.
This month’s theme is Halal Innovation.
The global halal industry is estimated to be worth around USD2.3 trillion (excluding Islamic finance). Growing at an
estimated annual rate of 20%, the industry is valued at about USD560 billion a year. Thus, making it one of the
fastest growing consumer segments in the world.
The halal industry has now expanded beyond the food sector to include pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, health products, toiletries and medical devices as well as service sector components such as logistics, marketing, print and electronic media, packaging, branding, and financing.

How does it work?
Each startup to be grilled are given 10 minutes:

Syahrul Nizar Yahya started his career as an SAP Basis Techni- cal Support for PETRONAS Group, and later joined L’Oreal Singapore for a regional portfolio covering Malaysia, Singa- pore, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. He came back to Malaysia in 2012 to work with MSC Cyberport Johor as Project Manager for Johor State Government’s ICT proj- ects. Then he continued to join the Federal Government under Johor Petroleum Development Corporation working on nation-building project; Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex. Syahrul went on to join Malaysia Development Economy Corporation (MDEC), playing a big role in building the start-up ecosystem and championing Malaysia as the regional hub for Islamic Tech Market. His involvement is instrument in the Islamic Digital Economy Framework (Mi’yar) which is deemed the first of such initiative in the world

Completing his studies in engineering, Amiruddin spent 9 years living in France.

They’re now currently targeting their expansion to Paris, New Zealand and Indonesia.
Recognizing a market for Muslim-friendly tourism packages, ARBA Travel & Tours has found its niche and grown into a major player in the industry without bringing anyone to ‘tourist traps’ that hose overpriced shopping locations offering extra commission.
