Session Summary

Since a couple of years ago, the concept of Design Thinking (DT) has started making its presence in the corporate as well as entrepreneurship circles in Malaysia. The term ‘Design’ in Design Thinking (DT) creates the assumption that it is the exclusive domain for designer only but in fact, intuitively, all great innovators in literature, art, music, science, engineering, and business have used it in one way or another.

DT takes inspiration from designers work processes. The processes help us to systematically extract, teach, learn and apply human-centered techniques to solve problems in creative and innovative ways. This process allows us to use it universally, in all our designs for solutions for social, business, communities and even in our lives.

World leading brands, such as Apple, Google, and Samsung have adopted DT into their work processes; especially in innovating their products and services to meet the market’s changing demands.

It is an iterative empathy-based process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge existing assumptions, and redefine problems towards creating alternative strategies and solutions.
