Session Summary 

Now that you’ve come up with an amazing idea for a new product or service, how do you figure out if there is a sustainable business model to get the innovation into the hands of your customers?

Or, if your business is stagnant, and you are looking for new ideas or areas to improve existing products/services or business model? How do you grow?

Introducing the Business Model Canvas – a tool that will assist both corporates and startup founders to describe, challenge, design, and invent their business models more systematically.

This 2-day workshop will enable participants to understand and analyse their existing business model, why or not people are buying from them, where should they improve to increase revenue and how to design a business model that is sustainable.

Users put the Canvas to work in different areas of their organizations. Majority of users apply the Business Model Canvas to develop the following areas

  1. New Product/service development of existing business model
  2. Development of an entirely new business
  3. Strategic reorientation
  4. Renovate old business model

By the end of the programme, participants are able to:

  1. Fill each building block in BMC.
  2. Explain the relationship between each building block in the BMC.
  3. Apply BMC elements as a business strategy tool.
  4. Design and explain the use of BMC to their team members and other participants.
  5. Explain the differences of B2B, B2C, B2G models.
  6. Design strategies or tactics in the face of the worst case scenarios.

This course is suitable to any budding entrepreneur, entrepreneur that feels their business is at slow growth pace or corporates or executive looking to innovate within their existing organisation.

Learn about the elements of BMC

  1. Identify 14 different ways to apply the canvas
  2. Describe the avatar of their business customers.
  3. Explain “why customers should buy from them?”
  4. Explain marketing and sales processes within their business.
  5. List out customer related mediums – both online or offline.
  6. List income streams that will / will be used in their business
  7. Identify resources, activities, outsiders and the cost structure involved in the business.
  8. Redesign new products or create a sustainable business model using the business model canvas.

Mohd Yusry Mohamad Yusopp

Mohd Yusry Mohamad Yusopp is an entrepreneur who has been involved in the creative content, publishing and education sector for the past 12 years. In the past, he has served as the Acquisition Editor with PTS Professional Sdn Bhd. He has also authored several books on Entrepreneurship, Short Stories, activities and games for educators. He is a Business Model and Design Thinking practitioner. In 2012, he was trained by Dr Alexander Osterwalder and Dr Yves Pigneur (founder of the Business Model Canvas tool) in Singapore (Business Model Masterclass). He has been proactively involved in helping startups and Small Medium Enterprises to redesign their businesses should they faced problems or challenges. He is Business Counsellor appointed by Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN) and trainer for Educ8, an initiative on Creativity and Innovation under MaGIC (Malaysia Global Innovation and Creativity Centre).

Aizat Razak

Aizat Razak, graduated with first class honours from Universiti Teknologi MARA in Bachelor in Mass Communication (Hons.)(Publishing). He has 10 years of experience in in both book publishing and bookstore retail industry that include translation, editing, proofreading, publishing, sales, marketing, merchandising and branding knowledge as well as training and education, management and leadership skills. His experience gained through his time working at various companies among others as Acquisition Editor and Publishing Manager in PTS Professional Publishing Sdn Bhd, Deputy Marketing Manager at PTS Media Group Sdn. Bhd, Assistant Merchandising Manager at Malay Merchandising Department, Popular Book Co. (M) Sdn. Bhd and Chief Marketing Officer at ABS Ainon Holding Sdn Bhd. Since Sept 2015 , Aizat Razak excitingly enter a new phase as Weight Loss Motivational Coach after successfully losing 125kg from 220kg and is a certified as Sport Science coach level 1 by National Sports Institute Malaysia.

Zusuff Khan

Zusuff Kan is an entrepreneur with more than 12 years of working experience (7 in the corporate and past 5 years as an entrepreneur). Prior to starting his own venture, he has worked with several reputable firms in different capacity. He started his career with Petronas before moving into the Islamic Capital Market with RAM Ratings and KFH Research Limited. Since September 2012, he has ventured into business as an entrepreneur and business designer. He has initiated various start-up companies, launch new products and services in creative content and business consulting using Business Model Canvas and other Design Thinking tools including Blue Ocean Strategy from Blue Ocean Academy. He is also a Business Counsellor appointed by Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN) and has been delivering design thinking related tools such as Business Model Canvas and others in Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore.
