The session will discuss on the financial and non-financial needs of MSMES in ASEAN and different stages of financing. It will discourse when banks will not work as a source of financing for them and highlight different alternative financing options available like venture capital, equity crowdfunding and the likes. The session will also provide valuable information about the sources of additional information on MSME finance in ASEAN.

Last but not the least, it will discuss how to prepare business plan with templates and get ready for the pitch.

Dr. Hazik Mohamed

Fintech expert, iFINTELL 

Hazik is a business strategist with substantial market research, operational management and start-up experience. He focuses on growth, stability and sustainability through customized strategies, Islamic financing, market analysis and expert advisory. He has over 20 years working experience; first 10 years in the engineering field where he has led several successful projects and received several “Above and Beyond” recognitions for various contributions to projects and critical issues that won market share for the company. Subsequent 10 years were spent on building start-ups and business consulting, where he consults for MSMEs and MNCs on various business-related issues including operational process optimization, investment management, strategic analysis and market penetration.

Hazik’s professional research experience include commissioned work for ASEAN Secretariat to produce a Handbook for ASEAN MSMEs to position themselves for alternative financing where traditional financing institutions have rejected them. His past corporate clients include ASEAN Secretariat, Oman Tourism (Sultanate of Oman) as their market-based representative to execute regional PR & Marketing campaigns, SME Bank (Malaysia) for specific strategic advisory, EDC@SMCCI (Enterprise Development Centre of Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce for MSMEs) where he served as independent consultant for micro-enterprises in business modelling and growth strategies.
